What's Next for Overboss & Boss Monster
over 2 years ago – Fri, Jul 23, 2021 at 01:14:46 AM

Greetings, Overbosses! It's been a while since we've been in touch, but we thought this would be a good time to share what's ahead for Overboss, the world of Boss Monster, and Brotherwise Games.

Overworld Domination

After a great Kickstarter, Overboss has continued to reign supreme. It's selling well in stores across the US, UK, and Canada. Localized versions are now underway. It might be our best-reviewed game ever, with a Dice Tower Seal of Approval, a GeekDad Approved award, a "Buy It!" from Tabletop Gaming magazine, and many other accolades!

With the game doing so well, we're now thinking about how we could expand it! Aaron and Kevin have a lot of expansion ideas, but we also want to hear from you: what would you like to see in an Overboss expansion? We're at the very earliest stages of development, so now is a great time to share your requests. Let us know in the comments!

More Boss Monster

In the meantime, we're working on what's next for the world of Boss Monster. Here's a sneak peek at the Boss Monster bulletin board in Brotherwise HQ...

These projects are all top-secret for now, but hopefully those teasers are enough to tantalize you.

A New Party

Right now, we're at the very end of another campaign: a fast-paced miniatures game based on The Dragon Prince animated series. As huge fans of this show, we've created a really fun game of fast-paced, team-based combat. Whether you know the show or not, this game is a blast (and a great value at $40). Here's a look at one of the game's eight miniatures, along with some of his cards:

The Pre-order Edition includes a special "Dark Callum" deck. And as a fun bonus for our longtime fans, it also comes with a set of 8 all-new Boss Monster cards featuring characters from the show!

That campaign ends on Monday, so there are just a couple of days left to pick it up with free US shipping and bonus content. If you like our games, and want to experience some exciting tabletop combat for all ages and skill levels, check it out!

More News

We won't send another Kickstarter update until we have big news to share on Boss Monster or Overboss. But if you want to keep an eye on all things Brotherwise, we're sending occasional updates in our newsletter. We also post a lot of fun stuff on social media. Keep an eye on our Instagram for content you won't find anywhere else ...like the upcoming Overboss rap. 😎

Thanks again for your support, and we hope you're having a great time with Overboss!

Asian Shipping Underway!
almost 3 years ago – Thu, Apr 01, 2021 at 04:04:54 AM

Hi all,

We've finally received words that VFI has commenced shipping for Asia. Shipping times can still be quite long there, so we ask for your continued patience.

UK, EU, Asia updates
about 3 years ago – Sat, Mar 13, 2021 at 12:37:25 AM

Greetings Overbosses, and thanks to those of you outside of North America who are still patiently awaiting your copies of the game. Today we have more news for our backers in the UK, EU, and Asia.

UK and EU Shipments to begin this week or on Monday

According to our friends at Shipquest, fulfillment in all European zones will begin by Monday. We've even been told that UK fulfillment will start as early as tomorrow.

Asian Shipments are getting closer

We've run into a major issue with our Asian shipments due to a key international freight system being out of commission. We've decided that you've all waited long enough, and rather than wait for that system to come back online, we're going to just eat the costs to ship using a more expensive system. This will not affect your costs in any way. We will update you on that news ASAP.

As usual, note that we are holding retail product out of your zone until all backers' shipments in that zone have shipped.

Thank you for your continued patience. We're getting closer!

Overbosses Around the World Unite!
about 3 years ago – Thu, Feb 25, 2021 at 06:30:58 AM

Greetings, Overbosses! We’ve got good news for just about everyone in this update, as well as some guidance on handling missing shipments and parts replacements, so please read on!

EU and UK Backers

All product has now arrived at our EU hub. Almost everything is at the UK hub, and we expect the rest to arrive by this Thursday. Order data is getting submitted today, so shipping should be expected to start soon. How soon, you ask? We’re not sure. It depends on the fulfillment backlog at each hub (ShipQuest EU and ShipQuest UK, respectively). We really appreciate your patience and we’ll update you as soon as we have more info.

Australia/New Zealand

Our hub in Australia (Aetherworks) has all the stock they need to get started and order info has been submitted. We’re expecting them to start soon!

Asia

All product has arrived at our hub in Asia and all backer data has been submitted. Shipping out of our hub here (VFI) is expected to begin once things are back to normal after Chinese New Year.

North American Backers (and “Rest of the World”)

If you live in the United States, Canada, or another part of the world that ISN’T mentioned above, your shipment is out the door. To our knowledge, the vast majority of US orders have been delivered, as well as many Canadian orders. We’d expect Canada to finish delivery this week. "Rest of the World" orders have all shipped, but will understandably be in transit for a bit.

Missing Shipments and Parts Replacements

If your shipment has gone missing, or anything in your order has arrived damaged, please first reach out to [email protected]. We’ve empowered Quartermaster to reship any damaged goods and to help find missing packages. If you're looking for parts replacements, please email us your address and a photo of the damaged part to [email protected]. We are committed to your 100% satisfaction and want your game to be perfect.

Help Get the Word Out

Do you tweet? Do you Instagram? Do you TikTok? If so, please share your Overboss experience with the world. Use the hashtag #Overboss and let other gamers know what you think about the game. We've been doing our best to find every post so we can thank you directly, and there have been a lot of posts so far!

The reviews have been very positive, which is great to see. We knew Aaron and Kevin made an excellent game, but it's awesome how it seems to be appealing to everyone from seasoned gamers to parents introducing the hobby to their kids. If you're having a fun time with Overboss, you can really help us out by sharing a positive review at BoardGameGeek or Amazon.

Thank You!

We’re so proud of what we’ve accomplished with your help and we hope you are too. If you already received your game and you have questions about gameplay, be sure to check the latest FAQs. If you have any other questions, contact us. We want this to be a great experience for you. Thanks for everything, and have fun conquering the overworld!

Shipping Update & Pro Tips
about 3 years ago – Mon, Feb 15, 2021 at 05:02:58 PM

Happy Valentine's Day, Overbosses! It's been an exciting week as games have reached more players' hands and we've started to hear how much fun people are having. Whether you've just received your copy or you're still eagerly waiting, today's update is for you!

Shipping Update

Fulfillment is moving along at a good pace! We're pleased to report that ALL U.S. and Canada units are out the door and expected to arrive soon.

EU and Australia units are checked in and just awaiting shipment scheduling. We'd expect them to be shipping soon.

Units shipping to Asia will begin fulfillment right at the end of the Chinese New Year break.

Sadly, Brexit has complicated our UK fulfillment quite a bit and we have been awaiting our VAT/EORI information to begin processing. This has taken long enough that we've gone for a temporary EORI number instead. We have that now and things should get rolling soon. We'll update as soon as we know more.

And one final note: Don't forget that 100 U.S. game stores backed the campaign at the retailer level and will have their Overboss games for sale soon. As promised, we've delayed shipping units to other stores until all units in those zones have gone out the door.

Pro Tip #1: Punch It & Box It

Once you get your game, put your dukes up, because it's time for some punching & boxing! There's nothing more satisfying than putting all those shiny new components perfectly in place. If you want to make sure you know exactly where to put everything, here's a handy guide.

(Click to download this as a PDF)

Of course, that's how to get it all set up perfectly the first time. Between games, there's no need to break it all down if you want to play with the same terrain tiles next time. Just put the shuffled tiles face-down in the empty wells (leaving the remaining tiles face-up in their wells). With a little finesse, the token bag can lay flat on top of everything inside the box, even if it's stocked with tokens.

Pro Tip #2: Know the Game

Want to learn the rules? We have three great videos ready to teach you! Start with the core rules here

Then move on to the Advanced rules and Solo rules. If you've already been watching these videos as we've been posting them, we have one more helpful resource for you: detailed FAQs. All these resources are compiled on our Overboss Rules page.

Pro Tip #3: Spread the Word

Okay, this one's more of a request than a tip. If you've already received your copy of Overboss, we would be hugely grateful if you could spread the word online with the #Overboss hashtag. (For bonus points, tag #AaronMesburne and #KevinRuss to give the designers credit!) When it comes to an indie business like Brotherwise, positive word-of-mouth is more important than any marketing dollars we can spend. If you find yourself enjoying the game, a good rating at BoardGameGeek is also a huge boost for us!

And if social media isn't your thing, go old-school by printing out some cards and giving them to your would-be significant others! Here's a set of Overboss valentines that you can use to share the love.

Thanks for the Love

As the reviews have started to roll in, we've seen some great responses. Thanks to Geeks Under Grace, ForestGameCo, and Lost My Meeples for the glowing reviews. We love this game and we're excited to see that so many people are enjoying it, too!

Whether it's romantic or relaxing, we hope you have a great Valentine's Day. Thanks for all your support and don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!
