Latest Updates from Our Project:

The Final Push
over 3 years ago – Tue, Dec 08, 2020 at 12:53:48 AM

Greetings, Overbosses!

The moment you've been waiting for draws nigh! Fulfillment looms on the horizon and soon you'll be crafting overworlds with your rivals, and enjoying this game to its fullest.

Overboss is "on the boat," as we say in the biz, heading to the various fulfillment zones. While each zone behaves a little differently (due to sea travel time from China and local idiosyncrasies of fulfillment), here's what the North American timing will (hopefully) look like:

  • Expected arrival in Los Angeles: December 15th or 16th
  • Custom clearance: December 20th
  • Arrival by truck in Quartermaster in Florida: December 27th
  • Handling and processing at Quartermaster complete: January 5th
  • North American fulfillment begins: Sometime between January 5th and 10th

That timing might be a little bit faster for the Australia zone (or it might not), and it will definitely be a bit slower for the Euro zone (much more time spent on the boat from China), but we will reiterate our pledge here: the game will not go on sale in a particular zone until ALL pledges have been shipped in that zone. We'll simply hold it back from distributors even if we miss our street date promise. You are our first priority.

Locking Down Addresses

So, given all that, it's time to lock down addresses. If you've had (or expect to have) any change of address between now and mid-January, we need you to:

1. Log in to Backerkit.com and check your Overboss account (it may still be listed as Overlord).

2. Look at the address you have listed.

3. Change it to the address you expect to be at in January if it is not already.

That's it. You don't need to do any more than that. You have until Sunday, December 13th to do this. We will lock down all accounts at that time and any other changes will have to be handled manually via email.

Y'all Did a Good Thing

This game is gorgeous, guys. I know I keep saying that, but the final mass production sample arrived yesterday and this morning I got out the lightbox and took a few pics. I'm not a great photographer, but even my pitiful phone camera was able to capture this game's magnificence. Because of the success of this Kickstarter, we were able PACK this game with goodies (and love). Here's a quick visual tour to whet your appetite.

The box front. Hard to tell here, but the logo is UV coated and pops when you see it in person.
The box back, which does a good job of conveying what's inside.
The punchboards, including the Limited Edition goodies. Look at all that cardboard... it's one of the reasons the box ships overpacked (as seen below). We were barely able to fit everything in there!

See that space between the box top and the bottom lid? That's because of everything this game ships with. Don't worry, though. Once you've punched out all the goodies, the box top fits perfectly flush over the box bottom.
Open it up and pull out the token insert and you see the bottom insert. Your score pad and player boards will fit flush down there, along with the market board and tile tower, if you got them.
Put the tile/token insert back on top and fill it up with all the game components, and you get something that looks like this. Now I defy you to not drool over this organized goodness. Gametrayz really knocked it out of the park on this one.
Pull out a stack of tiles and you'll find the matching tokens hidden snugly underneath.

The Command cards fit below the Boss cards, and at the bottom layer you'll find a cubby for your token bag and your Portal and Miniboss tokens. Squeee!!!

All the essential rules fit on this handy dandy Quick Start Guide, printed on sturdy cardstock.
A gorgeous (and big!) full color rulebook.
A solo campaign guide! Don't forget, you can download and print this bad boy from our webpage, so you don't have to ruin this pretty one.
And last but not least, the Limited Edition pack, which you definitely earned. An original backer token bag, two boss cards, a whole new tile set with rules card and selection card, and two LE Boss Monster cards to take some Overboss goodness over to your original Boss Monster game.

For a closer look at the rulebook and other downloadable resources, check out our aptly-named Overboss Rules page.

Thank You

Once again, thank you. Looking at this game, I'm reminded of how lucky we are to have a community of fans and supporters. This game is beautiful, fun, elegant, everything we wanted to accomplish as a publisher. Aaron and Kevin designed a beauty, and you helped bring it to life.

Remember, you have until this Sunday to get your address updated on Backerkit.com. We will keep you updated with mini-updates as the various fulfillment zones move into launch mode.

Quick Update and Playtesting Opportunity
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 17, 2020 at 03:11:00 AM

Greeting Overbosses!

Good news: Production is complete and units are being loaded into shipping containers as I type this. Next step is getting them on the boat and underway to our fulfillment centers. We're still some weeks away from fulfillment, but we're getting closer to the "address locked in" deadline. We'll follow up with a specific email on locking down addresses in a week or so, but in the meantime, know that you can always update your address through backerkit.com.

Playtesting opportunity: Are you a gaming parent with a junior gamer aged 10-14 in your household? Brotherwise has an upcoming game based on a hit animated show, and aimed at players 10 and above, and we're looking for parent/child pairs to playtest online. Playtesting will happen on Tabletop Simulator, so ideally you'd already have an account there and be familiar with how it's used.

If you're interested, email us at [email protected] and let us know. We're looking for 5-10 playtesting pairs (parent and child), so won't be able to take everyone who's interested. Participants will get credit on the development team in the rulebook and get a Brotherwise Games t-shirt.

Note: you will be required to sign an NDA to participate, as the game hasn't been announced yet.

Thanks all!

Production and Delivery Update
over 3 years ago – Sun, Oct 25, 2020 at 04:01:50 AM

Greetings Overbosses,

We know it's been a while since we did an update, but for the most part we didn't have anything new to share. Now we do! We finally have a production complete date from the printer, and that date is November 11th. For those of you who haven't been following the updates regularly, you likely missed the notice that due to the name change negotiations, production was paused for a full month. That delay destroyed our ability to deliver in October, as we were hoping. With the game finishing 11/11, we'll be doing our best to get it on the various boats and to the fulfillment zones as quickly as possible. So....while it's possible that some deliveries will begin in very late 2020, most shipments will go out the first two weeks of 2021.

Backerkit

We've been charging cards (for shipping and add ons) on Backerkit for a while now. We still have a number of backers who've never filled out the survey, so now's a good time to log in to your Backerkit account, make sure you're all paid up and your address is correct. We won't be locking down addresses until the 2nd week of December, so you can always return to your account and change your address if a surprise move comes up between now and then.

This Game is Gorgeous

We got the game to the table again this morning for a quick three player game. Guys, it looks SOOOOO pretty on the table. And it plays great. Simple, elegant, accessible, and while I know there is a finite number of tile combinations to play with, when you're setting the game up it feels like the replayability is endless. The tiles, the tokens, the Boss cards, they all offer so many different ways for the game to play out. Here's some pics:

Production Sample Unboxing!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Sep 30, 2020 at 12:39:32 AM

Greetings Overbosses,

The production sample for Overboss arrived this morning and I immediately sat down and filmed an unboxing video so you can see just how gorgeous this game is. It's long (17 minutes), so you might want to jump around, but I was too excited to be brief. Such glory demands long-winded adoration.

We will update you on delivery estimates just as soon as we have some firmer dates from the printer. Thanks again for your patience and we hope you agree that this one is looking really special.

Cards charged this Friday!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Sep 24, 2020 at 09:10:11 PM

Overbosses!

After the name change surprise, we are back on track and firing on all cylinders to complete your game. We are expecting the production sample for Overboss any day now, and will be sharing a video of it once we have it.

In the meantime, your credit cards will be charged in Backerkit this Friday.

Note that you have already paid for your pledge in Kickstarter. This round of charges is to cover shipping and any add ons that you added in Backerkit. We are giving you this heads up in case the credit card you used in Backerkit has changed, been hacked, or otherwise become defunct. Please update your payment information asap.

Note that address changes will be allowed in Backerkit for some time to come. We won't lock down addresses until we are close to delivery.

Thanks for your patience,

Brother One
